Exciting Acquisition News!

Carenet Health Team Members,

When we talk about becoming 2x bigger and 2x better, it sometimes may feel like a far-off goal. In reality, we’re putting exciting and concrete growth strategies in place right now to make it happen.

To that end, I’m pleased to share with you that Carenet Health has acquired OpenMed (https://openmed.com), a tech-focused, global organization known as a leader and innovator in enabling access to healthcare and closing gaps in care. We’re honored to be adding OpenMed and its teams to Carenet.

In the coming weeks, you’ll be learning a great deal more about OpenMed, which will operate as a separate division of our company. Here are a few important facts to know today:

  • This acquisition further positions Carenet as a trailblazer in healthcare engagement and telehealth solutions, and provides our company with not only a cutting-edge technology platform but an established, global software development engine for ongoing solution development.

  • OpenMed was founded in 2015 as a digital-first company and has subsequently created the largest, automated appointment scheduling platform in the U.S. The SaaS-based, programmatic access-to-care platform connects physicians, patients, health plans, managed care organizations and labs via mobile apps, texts, email, interactive voice response (IVR) and live/phone communications.

  • OpenMed’s platform provides access to 5.5 million providers … medical, dental, behavioral health, optometry, home health and much more. The company also has an on-demand telehealth solution.

  • OpenMed is based out of Miami, Fla., where Founder Aaron Kaufman resides.

  • Adding OpenMed to the Carenet family also increases the size of our clinical and engagement teams and boosts our geographic presence, with 164 registered nurses and schedulers joining us from the Philippines. We’ll also be gaining a software development team spanning multiple countries.

Just as we’ve done for other acquisitions, we’ll be working over the next several months to transition OpenMed’s team members and clients to our organization. We’ll also be introducing Carenet clients to OpenMed and the new solutions and services we’ll be offering.

Several of OpenMed’s leaders will be in San Antonio as early as next week to begin the planning process. Please make them and their teams feel welcome.

This is perhaps one of the most exciting times in Carenet’s history. I hope you’ll embrace the opportunities as we work together to achieve our vision of better healthcare for all. Watch for more information in the future, and thank you for your continued contributions to our success!
